Our 8th Annual In Concert with Caminar brought together friends and community, highlighted a young man’s journey to wellness, celebrated the therapeutic power of the expressive arts, and raised critical funds to improve the health and well-being of our most vulnerable neighbors.
Poignant Words from a Local Legend
Our evening’s special host, former San Francisco 49er, NFL Hall of Famer, and Bay Area philanthropist and legend, Ronnie Lott spoke eloquently about how mental wellness touches all of our lives. He emphasized the importance of being there for each other during difficult times. And just like in the huddle, being present and listening makes a real difference.
Maikel Garcia Shares the
Therapeutic Power of the Arts
Saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Maikel Garcia, who shares his love of music with individuals in recovery from a mental health crisis through Caminar’s donation-supported Expressive Arts Program, kicked off the evening with his band. Maikel Garcia and M Project delighted us with their distinctive and captivating style of jazz and funk with a Latin influence.
Brian’s Path to Wellness
Our newest video, shown for the first time at In Concert with Caminar, features a young man’s reflection on how Caminar is helping him on his inspiring journey to wellness after multiple mental health diagnoses. In Brian’s words, “Caminar gave me something to live for.”

Nothing But Blue Skies for En Vogue
En Vogue, our headline act, electrified SFJAZZ with an hour-long set of both classic and new hits. The funky divas brought energy and soul, and even shared a relevant message of resilience in their song “Blue Skies”:
“I pushed through the winds
I stood in the rain
I weathered the storm
Now nothing but blue skies around me
And I, I’m better inside
I’ve opened my eyes
See nothing but blue skies around me.”
