NEW YEAR, NEW BEGINNINGS, NEW HOPE
Dear Friends,
I hope you enjoyed happy holidays, and 2022 has started on a healthy note. Thank you for your ongoing support of Caminar and our clients, and for providing hope for those who need it most.
As you know, this year is starting with new challenges, including spiking Omicron cases, new analysis of the toll COVID has taken on our already-vulnerable communities, and ever-growing levels of mental health concerns.
New data give us a clear picture of the devastating intellectual, emotional, and developmental loss our children have experienced as a function of lost schooling due to COVID. On top of that, we see historic levels of kids talking about suicide, high levels of depression and anxiety disorders, and the heart-breaking constraints parents meet when seeking timely, appropriate mental health support for their families. The effects are even more significant on BIPOC individuals and families.
New and bold solutions are needed. As a leading behavioral health provider in the Bay Area, we are mounting a response to the ever-expanding pain and challenge our kids are experiencing.
We recently conducted a social media campaign to link young people to care, which you can see in the adjacent image. This is just the start of our effort to improve adolescent mental health, and we want your help in doing more.
Will you be part of our efforts this year to address our communities' mental health and well-being – and provide new hope? We hope so! Stay tuned for opportunities to get involved. And please reach out to me directly with any questions or concerns.
Stay healthy,
Mark Cloutier

INSTITUTIONAL GIVING UPDATE
Our thanks to our long-time partner, Peninsula Healthcare District, for their recent grant in support of Caminar's Medication Assistance Program (MAP).
MAP is designed to improve District clients' behavioral and physical health for those living with co-occurring mental health diagnoses and poverty. Caminar's licensed vocational nurse will help decode the confusing process of creating and keeping a medication schedule, a challenge for anyone, especially those living with mental health instability.
We are grateful to continue our decade-long partnership with Peninsula Healthcare District and for the opportunity to bring this needed program to the community.
